Plans4Boats: A Personal Review

If you are a boat builder like me, than you already know how important reliable wooden boat plans are for your boat projects to be a success. That was why when I found the Plans4Boats package made available online by the Danish boat builder Daniel Holden, I was both interested and skeptical. I mean, are you really going to get over 250 good boat plans for under $50, or is this some type of scam?

However, given that the plans had a full money back guarantee, I though I would at least check them out and see if they worth while. Fortunately, I was happily surprised with what I received. When your purchase the boat plan package you can either download them immediately, or you can have them sent to you a DVD-ROM. Being the impatient sort, I decided on the instant download. After all, how long could it take?

The answer is: quite a while. Not because the downloads themselves are difficult, or because my internet was slow (I had a fairly fast cable modem), but because there is literally thousands of pages of material in the plans4boats package. There are entire boat building books, magazine articles, blueprints, government boat specification sheets, guidelines from marine institutes and much, much more. There are definitely well over 250 boat plans here that will easily keep me occupied for years. Plans for canoes, fishing boats, dinghys, rowboats, drift boats, cabin cruisers, houseboats, kayaks, sailboats, paddle boats, jon boats, runabouts, yachts, skiffs and many, many more.

Most of the plans in the boat plan package are quite recent and use a variety of different building methods, and using everything from traditional wood plank to modern fiberglass, aluminum and plywood boat plans. There were also some really interesting historical boat building books and plans included in this package as well. The package also contains numerous articles, guides and handbooks chock full of information about boat building.

In short, this the plans4boats boat building package is basically an entire boat building library. There are enough plans here to keep me happily building boats for years to come!
