Video Short: Building a SeaBright Skiff

This is a very interesting video short looks at the history and the process of building a SeaBright Skiff using Jersey white cedar wood. The SeaBright is a type of Skiff developed in the Jersey shore region in the 1820’s. It is a light, seaworthy boat that was capable of being moved through the surf by a couple of fishermen.

This is a truly native America boat design, built using a local native wood source. This video shows some of the history and crafting used in the making of this beautiful wooden boat.

If you are interested in plans to build historically interesting boats such as the SeaBright Skiff you should certainly consider purchasing the Plans4Boats boat plan package put together by Danish boat builder Daniel Holden.
